Program Fees Expenses

Best Volunteer Nepal (BVN) is funded solely through the program fees paid by volunteers and individual sponsorships for children of the Happy Home and boarding school projects. Best Volunteer Nepal receives no funding from donor agencies. Independent donations are welcomed and will be applied toward various projects established by BVN. If you are completing a placement that is six weeks or longer and choose to participate in two different placements, you will be charged EU 50 extra. Hospital placements are an extra EU 150 for 2 and 4 weeks. After that each week is an extra EU 50.

Cash payment can be made in Euro, US Dollars, or Nepali Rupees on arrival in Nepal. We also accept Western Union transfers. Although we do accept international bank transfers, we discourage this due to the high cost of banking fees.

The above costs include the following:
  • Airport pick up from Kathmandu Airport
  • Transport to and from placement
  • Accommodation and main meals during placement with local family
  • Accommodation, food, Nepali language classes, sightseeing and cultural information classes during training in Kathmandu
  • Donations to support local clubs and schools in the host villages
  • BVN staff visits to placement
  • Contribution to BVN projects for resource centers, libraries, and sponsors of orphanage homes, health centres and environmental protection projects
  • To support our Happy Home children
  • Staff salaries and skill development training
  • Community health camp
  • Administration and Government tax
The cost does not include:
  • Personal insurance
  • Drinks & bar bills
  • Visa fees
  • Laundry service
  • Flights (domestic/international)
  • Trekking, jungle safari and rafting
BVN is totally funded by volunteers' program fees


You will be responsible for your flight ticket to Nepal and visa fees which are as follows (check with your embassy for the latest fee structure):
  • $40 USD for the first two months (to be paid at the airport upon arrival)
  • $40 USD per month thereafter
  • Departure tax of 1,800 RS (to be paid at the airport upon departure)
  • Personal travel and sightseeing (trekking, jungle safari etc)
  • Food in Kathmandu during your training, laundry, internet access, telephone, and drinks etc
Should you wish to spend more time in Kathmandu pre and post placement period, go trekking and sightseeing etc., please remember to budget accordingly! These costs will not be covered by BVN. Additionally, volunteers are responsible for any incidentals (extra food, laundry, sodas, emails etc.) costs accrued during training and placement.

We also provide help organising trekking, rafting and jungle safaris. We will recommend local guides from our different placements to ensure they are given the opportunity to earn money and you are given value for money. By drawing on local knowledge, your experience will be all the more rewarding.

Cancellation fees:
  • Before starting program training - 50% Refund.
  • No money will be refunded once you start your placement.
  • No money will be refunded for a program of 2 weeks duration after commencement
